Intensives

What is it?

It is a 3 or 5-day retreat-style couples therapy session. We meet for 8 hours every day with a lunch break and a flexible schedule (we can co-create it). The intensive is an opportunity to work on your relationship in a deep and focused way to faciliate change over a few days vs many months (regular therapy at an hour a week). We empirically validated Emotionally Focused Therapy as the framework to get you much closer to where you long to be in your relationship. I have heard over and over from my couples that when the retreat is over clients feel clearer about their relationship, understand the patterns and cycles that disrupt the connection, feel a growing connection to your partner, and start to create new patterns that are more intimate.

Why do it (over weekly therapy)?

Here are some of the reasons to choose an intensive:

-You have tried regular therapy previously and haven’t felt like it was helpful.

-You are in crisis and need change to happen sooner rather then later.

-Your relationship has experienced a trauma.

-Your life stressors have reached a unmanageable level.

-You have a child in crisis.

-You don’t have access to therapy or EFT where you live and need to travel.

-You and your partner are trying to decide if you want to end the relationship.

-You have a new medical diagnosis.

-You are invested in making your relationship be the best it can be.

-You and your partner recognize that there are things in your relationships that feel unsolvable or confusing.

-You are trying to start a new relationship and you recognize that you both need skills in order to co-create the connection you are desiring.

How do I justify the cost?

The cost of regular therapy is similar but spread out over time. The intensives are a way to get some traction quickly and have a therapists attention solely on you.
